Training & Certification
Is your Hijama training course certified?
Yes. Our Hijama training course is fully certified and designed to meet professional standards for safe, ethical, and responsible practice. Our graduates receive a recognised certification upon successful completion, allowing them to practice Hijama professionally, and with confidence.
Can I practice Hijama professionally after completing your course?
Yes. Once you successfully complete the ‘International Diploma for Hijama Professionals’ course and receive your certification, you are fully trained and prepared to begin practicing Hijama on a professional level, on real, paying clients. We guide our graduates on next steps such as insurance, equipment sourcing, and client readiness. Not only that, but all graduates automatically become members of our ‘Hidayah Health Network’. This means we will continuously refer real paying clients to you. We do not abandon our graduates once their course is complete.
Do I need prior medical or healthcare experience to enrol?
No prior medical or healthcare background is required. Our Hijama training is structured to take beginners from foundational knowledge through to safe, practical application, while maintaining high clinical and ethical standards.
Is this Hijama training suitable for beginners?
Yes. The course is suitable for complete beginners as well as existing therapists looking to add Hijama to their services. Each topic is taught clearly and progressively, ensuring students develop confidence and competence at every stage.
Is your Hijama certification recognised in the UK?
Our certification is widely accepted by insurers and professional bodies that support complementary and holistic therapies in the UK, including the widely recognised IPHM and CMA. We also provide guidance to graduates on obtaining appropriate insurance and operating within UK regulations.
How is your Hijama training different from other courses?
Many courses focus only on certification. Our training goes further by providing continued graduate support, ethical guidance, clinical understanding, and access to wholesale supplies. We don’t disappear after certification – we support you as you grow into practice. On top of that, our qualified graduates will continue to receive client referrals from us as part of our Hidayah Health Network.
Is the training based on authentic Sunnah practice?
Yes. Our Hijama training is rooted in authentic Sunnah principles while being delivered with modern safety standards, hygiene protocols, and clinical awareness. We teach Hijama with both spiritual integrity and professional responsibility.
Is this Hijama training suitable for sisters/females?
Yes. All of our tutors are CAVA qualified. This means that they are trained to, not only grade your coursework, but to provide effective feedback and advice on how to improve your abilities and knowledge so that you can develop the confidence and experience to become an impactful Hijama therapist. Our Hijama training is fully suitable for sisters. We emphasise professionalism, modesty, ethics, and gender-appropriate practice, ensuring a respectful and supportive learning environment for all students.
How long does it take to complete the Hijama training?
The duration depends on the learning format and individual pace. Our training is designed to be thorough yet practical, allowing students to build real competency rather than rushing through material just to obtain a certificate. As Hijama is a means to healing, one that was recommended to us by our Prophet ﷺ, it is our Islamic duty to thoroughly learn this treatment so that we can help others to the best of our abilities.
Will I receive ongoing support after certification?
Yes. Graduates receive continued support beyond certification, including guidance on practice development, access to wholesale Hijama supplies, and inclusion within our wider Hidayah Health therapist network.
Hijama Practice & Safety
Is Hijama safe when performed correctly?
Absolutely. When performed by a properly trained practitioner following correct hygiene, sterilisation, and aftercare protocols, Hijama is considered a safe therapeutic practice. Safety depends on practitioner training, infection control, and appropriate client assessment.
What safety standards are taught in your Hijama training?
Our training places strong emphasis on infection prevention, sterile technique, single-use equipment, skin preparation, sharps handling, and post-treatment care. Students are taught to practise Hijama responsibly and within professional safety standards.
Do you teach wet cupping safety specifically?
Yes. Wet cupping (Hijama) safety is a core part of our training. This includes correct blade use, depth control, bleeding management, hygiene protocols, contraindications, and aftercare to minimise risk and support healing.
What are the common contraindications for Hijama?
Hijama is not suitable for everyone. Contraindications can include certain medical conditions, pregnancy, severe anaemia, bleeding disorders, or active skin infections. An in-depth client assessment is conducted before every treatment to ensure safety and professionalism.
Do clients need a consultation before Hijama treatment?
Yes. A consultation is essential to identify and assess suitability, contraindications, explain the procedure, and obtain informed consent. This is a key part of ethical and professional Hijama practice.
How do you prevent infections during Hijama?
Infection prevention relies on strict hygiene protocols, including hand hygiene, skin disinfection, sterile equipment, single-use blades, proper waste disposal, and clean treatment environments. These standards are taught to every student, and reinforced throughout our vigorous training.
Is Hijama painful or dangerous?
Everyone’s pain tolerance is different. Hijama is generally well tolerated when performed correctly. Sensations vary between individuals, but serious complications are rare when treatments are carried out by trained practitioners following safety guidelines.
What aftercare is required following Hijama?
Aftercare typically includes keeping the area clean, avoiding strenuous activity for a short period, staying hydrated, and monitoring the skin as it heals. Proper aftercare reduces the risk of irritation and supports recovery. You can find out more information on aftercare advice by clicking here.
Is Hijama regulated in the UK?
Hijama is classed under complementary and holistic therapies in the UK. Practitioners are expected to follow local council requirements, obtain appropriate qualifications, insurance, and practise within clinical hygiene and safety guidelines.
How do you ensure ethical Hijama practice?
Ethical practice includes informed consent, client dignity, appropriate boundaries, honest communication, and prioritising safety over results. These principles are embedded into our training to ensure responsible practice.
